AMC picks up Fear The Walking Dead for a third season.
Fear The Walking Dead is not worried about ratings as the the number 2 show on cable television lands a third season.
AMC has renewed the prequel zombie drama for a third season only a few days after the season 2 premiere. In addition, the third season will feature even more episodes. In fact, season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead will have 16 episodes instead of 10. From THR:
“What Dave Erickson and Robert Kirkman have invented in Fear the Walking Dead is to be applauded,” AMC president Charlie Collier said in making the renewal announcement Friday. “Watching Los Angeles crumble through the eyes of our characters and seeing each make decisions and try to figure out the rules of their new world — it’s fresh, eerie and compelling and we’re all in for the ride. As Victor Strand observed, ‘The only way to survive a mad world is to embrace the madness.’ We thank the millions of fans for embracing this mad world and look forward to sailing far into the future.”
The news of a third season of Fear the Walking Dead is a little bit of a surprise as the show’s season 2 premiere had incredibly bad ratings. Ratings were a series low of a 3.1, which is way down from the 4.9 premiere in 2015, according to TV By The Numbers. That’s bad news as ratings tend to decrease as the season continues.
