Warner Bros. Is Sticking With Ezra Miller In “The Flash,” Even If There Are Legal Issues And All, Mostly Because They Have No Option.
Miller’s role in the standalone ‘The Flash’ movie has not looked promising since his most recent arrest for second-degree assault in Hawaii. Miller’s numerous run-ins with the law have dominated news coverage, suggesting that replacing him was a real possibility. It didn’t help that Warner Bros. had reportedly put all of its future endeavors with Miller on hold.

The studio is still moving ahead with Miller as the star of The Flash movie, according to a new study, however, because it would be next to impossible to replace them without completely scrapping the film.
“With “The Flash,” insiders say it would not be possible to replace Miller without reshooting the entire movie. They are in just about every scene, and there is not enough digital technology in existence to configure that magic without going back to square one. And redoing the entire film is not a realistic proposition for any movie — much less one that wrapped production months ago and already cost hundreds of millions.”
The Flash’s test screenings have been “incredibly successful,” according to Variety, which says the film could be a box-office smash for the studio, which needs to establish DC Films as reliable hits like the Marvel movies. More cynically, The Flash may turn a profit or at least recoup the millions already invested before Miller jeopardized the entire film.
On the other hand, all of this is predicated on Miller remaining out of trouble for a whole year. The Flash is set to release on June 23, 2023, and well, that’s a long time away. If Miller keeps assaulting people at such a high rate, Warner Bros. will have no choice but to cancel the entire film and lose a substantial amount of money.
