Ex-Unpaid Intern is Suing Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s Company

Date:

A former intern has sued Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s company, saying she worked 50 hours a week but wasn’t paid.

Shahista Lalani filed a class action lawsuit against Dualstar Entertainment Group in Manhattan’s state Supreme Court.

Lalani says she worked from May to September 2012. The Daily News reports that the lawsuit claims interns were not allowed to receive minimum wage.

Lalani points out that her responsibilities included inputting data into spreadsheets, doing errands for paid employees, cutting patterns, photocopying and sewing.

A spokeswoman told the Post that the company was not aware of the lawsuit and declined to comment.

The 29-year old twins founded the company when they were only 6 years old. The company makes clothes, videos, books, and cosmetics.
