Mexican government says “El Chapo” was caught after trying to cast actors to star in his biopic.
In a story that sounds too good to be true, the Mexican government officials are saying that “El Chapo” was working on his own biopic and sending out casting breakdowns when he was caught by the Mexican Marine forces.
According to several reports, the cocaine kingpin was captured in the town of Los Mochis after trying to have a biopic about his own life made, and gave up his location after contacting producers and actresses for the movie.
According to the Guardian, the 57-year-old kingpin started trying to make the movie right after he escaped from prison last year, and reportedly wanted to start his own version of the Netflix series Narcos, based on the life of Pablo Escobar, Columbia’s former drug lord.
“He established communication with actors and producers, which formed a new line of investigation,” Mexico’s attorney general Arely Gómez said. Apparently, his conversations with actors and producers allowed investigators to track him down.
After El Chapo was captured, he was taken back to the same exact maximum security prison he escaped from last year through a mile long underground tunnel. Production for the “El Chapo” biopic is most likely on hold.
