Eddie Murphy’s ’48 Hrs.’ Remake is in Development

Date:

The co-creator and star of The Carmichael Show is writing a remake of the Eddie Murphy classic buddy-cop movie 48 Hrs.

According to reports, Benny and Josh Sadie, the filmmaking team behind the Robert Pattinson crime thriller Good Time will remake 48 Hrs. for Paramount Players.

48 Hrs. was one of the movies that helped launch the acting career of Eddie Murphy, as well as the rise of the buddy-cop genre. Murphy and Nick Nolte starred as a convict and cop, who team up to catch a pair of cop killers within 48 hours. The movie was directed in 1982 by Walter Hill, whose credits include The Warriors, The Getaway, and Red Heat.

Josh Sadie will write the script and direct the movie alongside Ronald Bronstein and Jerrod Carmichael. Good Time was a hit for the Safdies and has been nominated this year for several Independent Spirit Awards. The brothers were also nominated Palm d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, where the movie premiered and won an award for its score.
