Disney Ride ‘It’s A Small World’ is Being Turned into a Movie

Date:

Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of the It’s a Small World attraction at Disney theme parks, and Disney plans to create a feature film based on the attraction.

Disney executives have hired Jon Turteltaub to direct a feature film based on the family ride. According to Deadline, Jared Stern pitched the idea and Disney executives have commissioned Stern to produce the script for the production.

This one will take awhile to come together but it is envisioned as a potential franchise for the studio. Turteltaub is coming off the CBS Films hit comedy Last Vegas, a movie that has grossed $134 million worldwide. For Disney, Turteltaub directed the first two installments of National Treasure and is working on a third with producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
