Leonardo DiCaprio is teaming up with Martin Scorsese for ‘Devil in the White City’.
Martin Scorsese’s next movie will be ‘Devil in the White City’ and it will feature Leonardo DiCaprio.
‘Devil in the White City’ is a true story and focuses on the lives of two men who turned the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair into their own playground. one of them, Daniel H. Burnman, the architect responsible for the fair’s construction, had to overcome huge obstacles in order to build the famous “White City” around which the fair was built. The other, H.H. Holmes, was a serial killer pretending to be a charming doctor and it is believed to be the killer behind several murders around the time of the fair. H.H. Holmes created and built the World’s Fair Hotel, complete with a crematorium and gas chamber, near the fairgrounds and used the event as well as his personality to lure victims to their deaths.
Leonardo DiCaprio will play the serial killer H.H. Holmes.
Tom Cruise was to star and produce the movie and then it was revealed that Kathryn Bigelow was going to direct and produce the ‘Devil in the White City’.
The last time Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese worked together it was a financial success. ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ would allow for Leonardo DiCaprio to receive another Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. In addition, on Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 77% approval rating, based on 246 reviews, with an average score of 7.7/10. The site’s consensus states: “Funny, self-referential, and irreverent to a fault, The Wolf of Wall Street finds Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio at their most infectiously dynamic”. ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ would make $392 million worldwide.
Leonardo DiCaprio may prefer working with Martin Scorsese. His latest movie, ‘The Revenant’ received several complaints that the crew hated working with the movie’s director.
Director, Alejandro G. Inarritu has many people calling ‘The Revenant’ an Oscar winning movie but, it also made crew members life a “living hell”.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, crew members had the worst experience of their careers.
Crewmembers say they have seen huge turnover, including many who were fired and others who quit. They say the behind-the-scenes drama led Inarritu to bar producer Jim Skotchdopole, who worked with him on Birdman, from the set.
However, it is rumored Martin Scorsese forces a culture of perfection. Jonah Hill, Leonardo DiCaprio’s co-star in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ revealed what it was like working with Martin Scorsese.
“I mean, there are moments when I watch the film and think, I’m in a Martin Scorsese movie. I’m on drugs in slow motion in crazy ‘Casino’ sunglasses in a Martin Scorsese film. This is the best. Stop the tape right now, I want to ‘Groundhog Day’ this for the rest of my life.”
