In the 1990s, Marvel got the ball rolling and started selling movie rights to certain of its characters.

Essentially, only certain movie studios could use certain characters. But, several years later after Disney purchased Marvel, Marvel Studios was formed. Now, Marvel is gaining their rights back to certain characters but, they don’t have them all back yet. So here is an amazing artistic infographic of all the characters and who owns them.
