Channing Tatum Reveals 22 Jump Street was a “Sham”

Date:

Channing Tatum is trying to distance himself from 22 Jump Street franchise and show off his acting skills.

Channing Tatum is having a break out year. The actor has just finished filming Magic Mike XXL in Georgia and is now on tour promoting his possible Oscar winning movie, Foxcatcher.

The Foxcatcher actor revealed on Wednesday during the Tonight Show that he has trouble understanding why people enjoyed the 22 Jump Street movie he made with Jonah Hill.

“It’s such a sham,” Tatum said with a chuckle when Fallon brought up the movie’s $330 million worldwide gross. “I don’t know how [it made that much].” This led Fallon to point out that it was a good movie.

We reported last month that Tatum was not interested in working on a sequel to the 21 Jump Street franchise. “I feel like it’s all redundant. The big running joke of the second movie is this is just going to be bigger and (crappier) than the first time.”

Maybe the actor is interested in showing off his acting abilities. In his new independent movie, Foxcatcher centers around the true story of Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) and his new sponsor John du Pont (Steve Carell) as they train for the 1988 Olympic games in Seoul. Their union ends up turning deadly as both men feel inferior to Mark’s brother, Dave. You can check out the original casting call for Foxcatcher here.
