Zac Efron was slammed on Twitter and Instagram for his MLK Day tweet.
Zac Efron, who is appearing in the upcoming Atlanta filmed movie, Dirty Grandpa, alongside Academy Award winning actor Robert De Niro sparked controversy this MLK weekend.
The Dirty Grandpa actor is catching some serious heat on Twitter and Instagram for posting what some feel was an insensitive message in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. “I’m grateful for a couple things today: Martin Luther King Jr & 10 million followers on IG,” the 28-year-old actor shared on Monday.

Minutes after posting the following Tweet, the Zac Efron backlash started and it was a little too late for the former High School Musical singer to do anything about it.

But, the backlash may have had little to do with the Civil Rights movement and more to do with the actor’s recent announcement that he will not be returning to the High School Musical reunion.
@ZacEfron ok but why arent you at the reunion??????
