Will Smith Appears in New ‘Independence Day 2’ Trailer [VIDEO]

Date:

makes a short appearance in the new   .

The great thing about a sequel to a 20-year-old action movie is that the expectations are never really that high. And while are excited for the new  movie, many people are afraid it's not going to live up to the original especially without Will Smith.

Jeff Goldblum is back as a scientist David Levinson, Bill Pullman returns as ex-president Thomas J. Whitmore and Jesse will play the part of Steven Hiller's (Will Smith) stepson.

Unfortunately, Smith himself didn't film any scenes for the movie, as his character was in the aftermath of the original movie while testing an alien fighter – apparently Will Smith didn't want to appear in the movie. But, if you pay close attention during the trailer, you can actually see a photo of Will Smith's character Steven Hiller at the 0:28 mark.

It's to see Resurgence will acknowledge the existence of the main character from movie.

Independence Day: Resurgence hits theaters on June 24th, 2016.
