Amid the Coronavirus, Tyler Perry pays the grocery bills for senior citizens across Georgia and Louisiana.
Tyler Perry is an entrepreneur, filmmaker, and actor. But, despite his popularity, he is never afraid to give back.
According to PEOPLE, Tyler Perry surprised elderly shoppers across two states Wednesday morning by paying for their groceries.
Perry paid for the grocers of all elderly shoppers at 44 Kroger stores in Atlanta, Georgia s well as 29 Winn Dixie stores in his native New Orleans, during the hour reserved for older customers during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Several stores are opening their doors early to older people so they can go shopping and practice social distancing as much as possible during the Coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.
“He wanted to do something special to provide immediate relief for some of the most vulnerable in the two cities he considers home,” a source tells PEOPLE.
Tyler Perry’s history of giving back
This news comes after Tyler Perry gave $21,000 in tips to workers at an Atlanta restaurant.
Tyler Perry has a long history of helping those less fortunate. In November, Tyler Perry helped a couple from Atlanta who was stuck in Mexico after getting sick during their vacation and being unable to afford their $14,000 medical bill.
In December 2018, Tyler Perry covered all layaways at two Walmarts in Atlanta.
