Dave Franco cast to play Vanilla Ice in the upcoming biopic, ‘To The Extreme’.
The actor spoke to Insider about the upcoming project. He explains the movie has been in development for a while and is getting closer to preproduction. COVID-19 shut down production, and Franco is using the shut down to do his research by talking with the rapper himself.
“Rob is such a sweet and intelligent guy and he’s been super helpful in the process of getting all the details correct and making us privy to information the public doesn’t know,” he said. “Just talking to him I can’t help but think about the rabbit holes I’m going to go down to get ready for the role.”
If don ewell, Franco said, it would be similar to his brother’s performance in ‘The Disaster Artist’. ”With that movie, people expected us to make a broad comedy where we make fun of Tommy Wiseau, but the more real we played it, the funnier and heartfelt it was — that’s the tone we want for this one as well,” he explained.
The biopic was named after Vanilla Ice’s debut album and was in 2019 with a storyline that read, “From a high school dropout selling cars in Dallas to having the first hip-hop single to top the Billboard charts with ‘Ice Ice Baby,’ a young Vanilla Ice struggles with stardom, extortion attempts, and selling out as he makes music history.”
Elsewhere in entertainment news, Donald Glover is reprising his role as a young Lando Calrissian for an upcoming ‘Star Wars’ series on Disney+. According to reports, Corey Van Dyke revealed the rumor during the Kessel Run Transmissions latest episode. He explains the series will focus on the Rebel Alliance General. However, they added they were unsure of making the announcement just in case the show was canceled before it premiered, and shared Donald Glover was open to returning to the franchise but his busy schedule may not work out with Disney.
