Tilda Swinton reveals she doesn’t really enjoy acting.
After it was announced that Tilda Swinton would play the traditionally Asian “Ancient One” character in the upcoming Marvel Studios movie, many actors, models and Asian Americans were infuriated and in a matter of a few days #WhiteWashedOut started going viral.

And while many people would die for the chance to star in a Marvel movie, Swinton revealed that she doesn’t really care about acting that much. In an interview with Yahoo! about her new film A Bigger Splash, Swinton reveals her thoughts on acting and surprisingly she isn’t actually interested in making movies. She admits, “I’m never really that interested in acting, to be honest with you. I can quite understand it must sound crazy, given that I’ve been doing this for 30 years.”

Swinton explains that she enjoys the process of understanding a new identity of a character and starting something new. “What I need is this feeling of not knowing what I’m doing. Genuinely this feeling of beginner’s mind, constantly. But anyway it’s working. It’s keeping me interested.”
She reflects, “Life is just a series of choices, and the gamut’s pretty wide. People can make all the choices they can see in 360 vision. Constantly these opportunities are there for us. We just have to know to take advantage of it. That’s what I feel about identity. That’s the thing that keeps me falling into the habit of performing.”
If Tilda Swinton is not that interested in acting, I know John Cho would definitely take her place.
