Bill Murray Throws Fans’ Phones Off a Roof

Date:

Bill Murray tosses fans’ cell phones off of a rooftop bar.

Beloved actor Bill Murray was hanging out at a rooftop bar in Carmel, California, on Friday evening, when he became upset after some fans decided to take a few pictures of him.

It was after dark and the amateur photographers had left their flashes on, which is is the most annoying way to signal to a celebrity that you are invading their privacy. Things then became tense.

According to witnesses, Murray approached the fans, grabbed their phones, and threw them off the roof. US magazine’s description of the situation can be found below:

“What we know is at about 10:30 PST last night [Carmel PD] officers were called to a disturbance at Vesuvio restaurant in Carmel,” Carmel police department commander Paul Tomasi tells Us Weekly. “When they got there, there were three people who had claimed that their cell phones had been taken from their hands and thrown. Two phones went off the roof and one was not damaged, it landed on a cushion on a chair.”

TMZ reports that there will be no charges brought against Murray, who had left the scene by the time cops arrived.

Police say they have been in touch with the actor’s representatives, and Murray “admitted he was there last night and is taking full responsibility for the damaged phones.” So, he’ll be throwing money at the situation now.

This should be a major lesson for anyone trying to have a moment with Bill Murray. HE decides to crash your wedding and photo shoots, not YOU.
