‘Star Wars’ Adam Driver Reveals He Struggles With Being Famous

Date:

Adam Driver says being famous has not been easy for the  Wars actor.

For as much as the world loves talking about Girls, the general public doesn't really watch Lena Dunham's millennial version of Sex and the City.

The ratings for the are tiny, even by HBO standards. In fact, this week's episode was watched by only 500,000 people. So most people, unless they recognized Adam Driver from a 2012 episode of have no idea who the guy is. That was until, Adam Driver appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And apparently Driver is having a hard time adjusting to his new found-fame.

On last night's The Late Show,  Stephen Colbert asked Driver whether he's used to people being excited to see him. “No,” he sheepishly responded, “I haven't really gone outside much in the past couple of months.” Driver says he has no problem with meeting kids, but “the parents is the scary thing.”

It is important to note that after 9/11, he enlisted in the , serving for more than two years before being medically discharged after he suffered an injury, which prevented him from being deployed.

Driver then attended the University of Indianapolis (for a year) and then transferred to drama at Juilliard in New York, graduating in 2009. He began acting in plays, appearing on Broadway, before being cast in Lena Dunham's series Girls (2012), as her character's interest, Adam Sackler. The role gained him attention, and he subsequently began a robust film career, appearing in small roles and supporting roles.

It wasn't until recently that he had graduated to major parts in the comedy-drama This Is Where I Leave You () and the Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015) and 's Silence (2016), the latter film opposite Andrew Garfield.

Despite being afraid of the fame, Driver is on track to become one of 's most popular faces and actors.
