Atlanta is ranked 4th in TV Pilot production beating major cities like New Orleans and Chicago.
Pilot season is finally over. This year however, Los Angeles has lost it’s grip on the number of TV drama pilots filming in the city, according to Variety.
A majority of the productions went to New York, Vancouver, and Chicago. However, what is interesting is the fact that Louisiana has only one TV pilot filming in the state. Which is bad news. Typically, if a pilot is filmed in a certain city and the show is picked up, then it is more likely that the show will film in that state. The lack of TV pilots in Louisiana points out that producers are most likely not interested in what Louisiana has to offer.
But, according to Deadline, Georgia’s tax incentives have pushed Atlanta to fourth place with four drama pilots, which is twice as many as last year. Georgia would beat other major filming locations including Texas, Chicago, and New Orleans. If Atlanta continues on this path of filmmaking domination, expect Georgia to be number one in 2016 TV pilot production.
This news comes days after FilmLA revealed that Georgia is ranked 3rd in U.S. Film production.
