It is clear Georgia’s film industry is booming. But, Atlanta’s film industry is also having an impact at the Emmys.
With more than 455 film and TV projects in Georgia this fiscal year, many of Hollywood’s biggest shows and movies have filmed in metro Atlanta. The Motion Picture Association of America says Georgia’s film industry has brought in around 92,000 jobs. Georgia is now the third largest destination for the film industry right behind Los Angeles and New York.
As a result, shows like Georgia-filmed “Stranger Things” (Netflix), and Georgia-filmed “Atlanta” (FX) both filmed in the state and received nominations. Actors who worked in the state including Jason Bateman for Georgia-filmed “Ozark” (Netflix), Donald Glover for “Atlanta” (FX), David Harbour for “Stranger Things” (Netflix), Brian Tyree Henry for “Atlanta” (FX), Zazie Beetz for “Atlanta” (FX), and Katt Williams for “Atlanta” (FX) were all nominated for Emmys.
