Apple’s ‘Tetris’ Film is an Engrossing, Intense Exploration of the Game’s Evolution

Apple has recently debuted the trailer of their highly anticipated movie, Tetris. This biographical drama depicts the exciting journey leading to one of the world’s most beloved video games – Tetris!
Jon S. Baird is the director, and Noah Pink wrote this script that follows Taron Egerton as Henk Rogers – a Dutch businessperson who had to acquire rights to publish Tetris on Nintendo Game Boy and other gaming consoles. Set during the Cold War, Nikita Yefremov portrays Alexey Pajitnov, a Soviet software engineer credited with inventing the renowned game.
The film vividly illustrates the Cold War tension that arises from Pajitnov’s status as a Soviet government employee. In addition to Pajitnov’s lack of compensation for his globally renowned game, the documentary uncovers an extraordinary juxtaposition between communism and capitalism.
