AMC Theaters and Zoom Video Communications are teaming up to turn multiple theaters into conference rooms by 2023. The partnership will start with “Zoom Rooms” in 17 major United States markets next year.

They are launching a website where users can book three-hour time slots in their preferred theater. The auditoriums for these large-scale corporate calls will have a capacity of 75 to 150 seats. Services such as food and beverage, movie viewings, and “concierge-style personalized handling of meeting needs” can be requested for an additional fee.

“One of the lessons learned during the pandemic when so many of us were forced to work remotely was the importance of a reliable, dynamic communications platform,” AMC’s CEO Adam Aron said in a statement. “We also learned that even though we may be spread far apart, the ability to come together in person is as important as ever.”

“Through this partnership of Zoom and AMC, we have the best of both worlds,” he added. “The spectacular communications platform of Zoom combined with the comfort, size, scale, and state-of-the-art sight and sound capabilities of AMC’s centrally located theatres. This creates an all-new product in major cities across the U.S. for companies and meeting planners.”

As of now, AMC and Zoom have yet to release any information regarding pricing or the expected opening date for Zoom Room reservations.
