Alec Baldwin Criticizes MSNBC, Rachel Madow, Shia LaBeouf and The Media

Date:

In a 5,300 word essay published last Sunday on New York Magazine’s Vulture blog Alec Baldwin says goodbye to the public life.

The actor says he is ready to move out of the spotlight and in his large essay attacked the media, MSNBC, network chief Phil Griffin, Rachel Maddow and even Shia LaBeouf.

Baldwin explains that everything has changed for hip in November when he was accused for using a gay slur at a photographer. Baldwin than added that he holds no prejudices against the gay community, noting that he is an avid advocate for marriage equality.

Alec Baldwin explains that  a TMZ photographer “ambushed me as I was putting my family in a car, and I chased him down the block and said, ‘C—sucking mother—er’ or whatever (when I have some volatile interaction with these people, I don’t pull out a pen and take notes on what I said).” He also called TMZ’s Harvey Levin a “cretinous barnacle on the press.”

He further continued in his essay that he did not use a racial slur. It was the incident that occured in late November that caused him to be fired from his talk show on MSNBC. He also added that he never wanted to be part of the network in the first place.

Baldwin also criticized MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, claiming that she is “a phony who doesn’t have the same passion for the truth off-camera that she seems to have on the air.”

He even addressed his relationship with Shia LaBeouf. Baldwin worked with LaBeouf in a Broadway production of Lyle Kessler’s Orphans. LaBeouf was fired weeks before the play opened, and Alec Baldwin claimed that there was tension between the two actors from the beginning.

“LaBeouf seems to carry with him, to put it mildly, a jailhouse mentality wherever he goes. … You could tell right away he loves to argue,” Baldwin says. “And one day he attacked me in front of everyone. He said, ‘You’re slowing me down, and you don’t know your lines. And if you don’t say your lines, I’m just going to keep saying my lines.'”

Baldwin said that he spoke with Sullivan and told the stage manager he would quit instead of have them fire LaBeouf, but at the end of the day they chose to fire LaBeouf instead. Baldwin commented on the incident that Shia LaBeouf believed his sense of entitlement would get him anything he wanted and he was surprised that was not the case.
