An aspiring actor was assaulted by a production assistant during a ‘Power’ casting call
According to reports, police are currently investigating claims that a production assistant for 50 Cent’s hit TV series Power sexually assaulted an aspiring actor, hit him in the face and used a homophobic slur against him during a casting call at a popular night club.
The 22-year-old actor from Brooklyn told police he went for a casting interview for the Starz network show, which is produced by the rapper, at LAVO nightclub at 39 E. 58th St. around 10 p.m. on Feb. 9 when a production assistant for the show “lured” him into a room and groped him, according to a complaint filed with the NYPD.
As the actor tried to resist the assistant’s physical advances, the man hit the actor in the face “multiple times” and repeatedly asked him a question that included a homophobic derogatory slur, according to DNAinfo.com
The actor was only able to leave the room until the production assistant gave him his phone number. However, since then the aspiring actor told police the assistant has been texting him.
“STARZ was not aware of this alleged incident,” a a spokeswoman for the network said. “We are looking into the matter and take it very seriously.”
