ABC Cancels ‘Wicked City’ After Only Three Episodes

Date:

ABC has just pulled the plug on ‘Wicked City’.

After only three episodes, ABC has just cancelled Wicked City, according to reports.

Following three barely watched episodes, ABC has chosen to pull the crime drama Wicked City from it’s schedule.

Starting November 17th, instead of a serial killering Los Angeles crime drama, ABC will show reruns of Shark Tank.

Wicked City featured Ed Westwick and Erika Christensen and was a true-crime drama which opened to horrible reviews and even worse ratings. Wicked City did so bad it was the least watched show among the big four networks.

In fact, on Rotten Tomatoes, the show is given a 16% rating with a critics calling it “Wicked City falls prey to the style-over-substance stereotype of the decade in which it takes place – although it does have a killer ’80s soundtrack.”

From THR:

The 1980s-set true-crime procedural starring Ed Westwick and Erika Christensen opened to dismal reviewsand an equally disappointing 0.9 in the all-important adults 18-49 demographic and 3.3 million total viewers against the World Series in its Tuesday at 10 p.m. slot. Week 2 dropped 22 percent in the demo to a 0.7 before reaching a 0.4 in the adults under 50 set — the lowest number for a Big Four original telecast this fall.

Apparently, the show had issues since pilot season. According to reports, there were several recastings and ABC refilmed the pilot before the October premiere.

Wicked City is a true-crime procedural exploring sex, politics and popular culture in 1980s Los Angeles as two detectives hunt for a serial killing duo reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde.

At least there is always The Muppets.
