50 People Were Fired from the Set of Hercules to Keep a Secret

Date:

A ton of people were fired trying to leak photos of Hercules New Look

Hollywood loves to keep their productions a secret and Hercules starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is no different.

While Johnson tweeted images of himself from the set of the upcoming action epic, one thing that the production team and studio enforced was to keep how ‘Hercules’ looked a secret. Mainly, Johnson’s new facial hair. But, just how strict were they on set? Super strict.

“I would say maybe close to 50 people were fired – crew members – all trying to sneak pictures,” Johnson told us, reflecting on his time shooting in Budapest. “So there’s that. There’s mandate, and we all agreed on that.”

But, for all the images that he did send out, the star still wanted to engage people in the movie making process while keep it secret. So, Johnson worked with Paramount and MGM to continue with his social media by allowing certain photos to be displayed.

“I told the studios…’Hey, what I’d like to do is take the audience and the fans on a journey from beginning to end, because it’s such a passion project for me. So from the time I get to Budapest, I’d like to take them on a journey in terms of what my diet is, what my training is and on set too.’ They said, ‘Well, how are you going to do that?’ I said, ‘Well, trust me. Somehow I’m going to do it.’”

Social Media is changing the way actors, entertainers, and people communicate. Previously, an actor would go on several talk shows to promote a movie but, today it requires a daily connection with your audience. This is probably why, Johnson worked so hard on providing details about the movie through social media to his fans.
