‘Free State of Jones’ Movie Trailer is Finally Here and Matthew McConaughey is Amazing

The civil war drama, Free State of Jones, centers around the story of Newt Knight, a farmer and former Confederate soldier who ultimately deserts from the Civil War and leads a revolt against the Confederacy.

On Saturday night, the first trailer for the Civil War drama Free State of Jones was released Saturday, featuring some pretty action packed scenes. Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey stars in the film written and directed by Oscar nominated director Gary Ross.

McConaughey plays Newt Knight, a farmer and one-time Confederate soldier who ultimately leaves and starts a rebellion consisting of farmers and slaves against the Confederate Army in Jones County, Mississippi.

Filming took place throughout New Orleans, Louisiana with casting directors looking for background actors, models, and stand-ins.
