Sacha Baron Cohen is in talks to play a famous comic strip magician, Mandrake the Magician.
Sacha Baron Cohen is one of the most popular comedians in Hollywood. His over the top antics has helped him become a comedic legend in the movie industry. So, it’s only fitting that he will soon play a comic-based magician. Cohen is currently attached to star in Mandrake the Magician, a movie adaptation of a long-running comic strip created by Lee Falk.
According to The Tracking Board, the movie will be produced by Warner Bros. and directed by Etan Cohen. Mandrake is an illusionist, escape artist, and hypnotist who use his magic skills to solve mysteries. He also has a twin brother with the same talents, but uses them for evil.
Even though the comic strip started in the 1930’s, this version will be updated to focus on modern themes and trends, seeing Mandrake recruited by the government to solve a major case. It basically sounds like an action mash up between Sherlock and Now You See Me.Â
