The Purge is one of the biggest American franchises at the moment. With a unique plot that centers around the one night a year when all law enforcement is suspended and everything is legal including murder, the franchise has been able to expand with multiple sequels. Now with a TV series and development, it turns out that the show will not discuss The Purge but will center around the fallout that occurs during the other 364 days a year.
The show is being run by the series’ creator James De Monaco, who will be writing and directing the series as well. The show, which will also feature a purge episode, will center around why Americans are so intent on killing each other in an America that is run by a dictator. It will also air simultaneously on two different networks including USA and Syfy. Ultimately, the TV series will lead into the fourth purge movie, which will hit theaters in 2018.
The show will most likely fill in potholes the movies necessarily walk over, like how you started in the first place. As long as they keep those creepy masks, I assume the show will be hit.
