Lin-Manuel Miranda is currently doing press for his upcoming feature film Mary Poppins Returns. On Wednesday, he visited Live With Kelly and Ryan.
Host Kelly Ripa brought up his first-ever TV acting role, which was a day player role on The Sopranos. “It’s funny, because it’ll pop up on re-runs and people are like, ‘Wow, you made a cameo on The Sopranos!’ No no—when you are a substitute teacher and this is your first job, it’s just a job. It’s only when you’re famous that it’s retroactively a cameo.
“So here’s how green an actor I am in that scene,” Miranda continued. “I am so green you can see me look down for my mark.”
Miranda also spoke about bring Hamilton to Puerto Rico, which Project Casting also featured the open casting calls for. Performances for the show begin on January 8, 2019. This will be the launch of the third national tour of Hamilton, where Miranda reprises his role as Alexander Hamilton.
