“Devil Wears Prada” Sequel Coming Soon

Date:

‘Devil Wears Prada’ Sequel in Development.

The beloved film The Devil Wears Prada may soon have a sequel. Original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is currently in talks to write the follow-up, which is being developed and produced by Wendy Finerman, the producer behind the original 2006 hit.

Although no official deals have been made yet, discussions about a sequel have been ongoing. Recently, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway, the stars of the original film, reunited on stage at this year’s SAG Awards, fueling excitement among fans.

As of now, no agreements with the original cast members have been secured. Disney, which acquired the original Devil Wears Prada studio Fox 2000, has not provided any comments on the matter.

The 2006 film, based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger, follows Andy Sachs (Hathaway), a recent journalism graduate who lands a highly coveted job as an assistant to the formidable Miranda Priestly (Streep), an Anna Wintour-esque figure in the world of high fashion. Andy navigates the demanding world of magazines and fashion with the help of her fellow assistant (Blunt). The film was a massive success, grossing $326 million worldwide and earning Streep an Oscar nomination.

Puck was the first to report on the sequel, offering potential plot details. The story may find Miranda Priestly still at the helm of Runway magazine, now facing the financial challenges of modern publishing. Emily Blunt’s character, previously an assistant, could be depicted as an executive at a luxury brand conglomerate that advertises with Runway.

Despite the buzz, Anne Hathaway, while promoting her recent film The Idea of You, expressed skepticism about the sequel, telling E!, “I don’t think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen.”
