About AwesomenessTV:
What is Awesomeness TV?
Awesomeness TV, founded in 2012 by Brian Robbins (known for his works on the Nickelodeon show iCarly and its spinoff Sam and Cat), has quickly become one of YouTube’s most popular channels. With over six million subscribers and nearly half a billion video views, Awesomeness TV is now producing content for television as well.
The AwesomenessTV YouTube channel offers a wide variety of entertainment, from scripted shows to movie trailers to parody videos. The channel initially made its name through comedy sketches and music video parodies but has since expanded to include reality series like “t@gged.” Both scripted shows and reality series are Awesomeness TV’s bread and butter, but AwesomenessTV also prides itself on its celebrity interviews. Awesomeness TV has interviewed many of YouTube’s most popular personalities, including Tyler Oakley, Lilly Singh, Charlie Puth, Alessia Cara, and more. This is Awesomeness TV’s first television show; the channel intends to put the project out as a weekly program during summer 2016.
The show will be produced by ViacomCBS Studios (who co-own Awesomeness TV with Comcast) and Brian Robbins’ production company Whalerock Industries. The weekly half-hour episodes will feature prerecorded segments and live performances recorded in front of a studio audience. Awesomeness TV’s YouTube stars will continue to produce their content on the channel, but it is unclear whether they will make appearances on Awesomeness TV’s weekly television show, as well.
