Margot Robbie’s upcoming Suicide Squad spinoff, Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), is now in pre-production and according to reports, casting for the production has already started.
Last November 2016, screenwriter Christina Hodson was hired to write the screenplay for a film adaptation for Birds of Prey, an ensemble film of DC Comics’ female heroes and villains set in the greater DC Extended Universe. Margot Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad and will co-produce the project.
Earlier this year news outlets reported casting had begun for the sequel. Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Rosie Perez were cast to play the Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee Montoya, respectively.
In August 2018, Black Mask was announced as the main villain and will be played by Ewan McGregor.
In April 2018, Warner Bros. hired Cathy Yan to direct the feature film with principal photography set to begin on January 15, 2019, and February 7th. Filming will take place in Los Angeles under the working title of Fox Force Five. Birds of PRey is set to hit theaters on February 7, 2020.

According to IMDB, casting will be completed by Rich Delia. Delia was born and raised in Long Island, New York. He attended Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Florida where he received a BFA degree. Returning to New York City after college, he acted in several off-broadway plays. Then by 2011, Delia started working as a casting director. Some of his biggest casting production titles including Dallas Buyers Club, The Disaster Artist, IT, Tag, and The Nun.

Details for the upcoming feature film have not been released. But the series was created y Jordan B. Gorfinkel and initially written by Chuck Dixon. The core of the team includes Oracle and Black Canary, with other female heroes forming a rotating roster of heroes who appear for extended periods of, sometimes for merely one adventure.
