Deadline reports that MGM is hiring The Best Man franchise director Malcolm D. Lee to direct Barbershop 3. The sequel is coming after producers have secured a deal with Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer. According to reports, the sequel to the critically acclaimed box office hit, Barbershop is heading to the Peach State this May.
The first Barbershop movie made $75 million in 2002 and the 2004 sequel grossed $65 million. Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a “Certified Fresh” rating and a score of 82% based on 124 reviews, with the critical consensus “Besides bringing on the laughs, Barbershop displays a big heart and demonstrates the value of community.” Metacritic gives the film a weighted average score of 66% based on reviews from 29 critics.
According to IMDB, Betty Mae Casting is the principal role casting director for the upcoming ‘Barbershop 3’ movie.
