Two Things You Should Be Eating to Have a Great Audition

Date:

What should you eat the night before your audition?

A good night sleep is important. It can make the difference between landing a role and not getting a call back. According to Harvard School of Medicine “it is just as important to get a good night’s sleep after learning something new in order to process and retain the information that has been learned.” So, if you have to memorize a ton of lines, you should get a good night sleep.

But, how do you get a good night sleep? Sometimes getting better sleep is just a matter of eating the right foods and avoiding other ones.

USNews has lsited up foods that are great for naturally falling asleep and others that are perfect for a late night snack.

Two fruits that may be worth stocking up the next time you go to the grocery story are cherries and bananas.

Cherries is one of the few natural sources of melatonin which have been shown to improve sleep quality.

US News reports that a handful of cherries, juice, or dried cherries is great before bedtime. If you don’t like tart fruit, try eating bananas.

Bananas. Make them a daily staple. They’re packed with potassium and magnesium, nutrients that double as natural muscle relaxants. Plus, they contain the sleep-inducing amino acid tryptophan, which ultimately turns into serotonin and melatonin in the brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that promotes relaxation; melatonin is a chemical that promotes sleepiness. It takes about an hour for tryptophan to reach the brain, so plan your snack accordingly

Foods that you should avoid include those that include Caffeine, high fat meals, and alcohol.
