Eddie Murphy will be returning to Detroit for the new Beverly Hills Cop movie.
According to Paramount the new Beverly Hills Cop movie centers on Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) as he returns back to the mean streets of Detroit during the coldest winter in years. Navigating through the new rules and old enemies in America’s toughest city.
The new movie will be directed by Brett Ratner. He is known for directing the Rush Hour film series, The Family Man, Red Dragon, X-Men: The Last Stand, and Tower Heist.
The Beverly Hills Cop movie will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and will be released in March 2016.
Filming will take place around Detroit, Michigan for several scenes in the movie.
“We are excited to welcome Axel Foley and the Beverly Hills Cop franchise back to Michigan,” said Margaret O’Riley, director of the Michigan Film Office. “This project will highlight locations throughout metro Detroit that speak to the city’s heritage while making significant investments in the community by hiring Michigan workers and local businesses.”
According to the press release, The Beverly Hills Cop production was approved for an estimated rebate of $13.5 million based on up to $56,644,792 of projected in-state expenditures. The project is expected to employ approximately 352 Michigan workers during the film’s shoot, with a full time equivalent of 318 jobs.
