Kristen Wiig reveals she was “really bummed” to see fans’ reactions.

Kristen Wiig thought people were going to be super excited about the all-female Ghostbusters spinoff, but she was “really bummed” when she found out that people’s true reaction to the Ghostbusters reboot.
Wiig was asked by the Los Angeles Times to discuss the reaction to the spinoff, particularly to the fact that many fans were upset about the gender switch. Wiig told reporters that she has never been involved in a project that had so much attention and controversy while it was being shot.
“And the fact there was so much controversy because we were women was surprising to me,” Wiig said. “Some people said some really not nice things about the fact that there were women.”
“It didn’t make me mad, it just really bummed me out,” the actress continued. “We’re really honoring those movies.”
Ghostbusters also features Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth. Ghostbusters hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
