Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Audition’ leaks online featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Brad Pitt.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Robert De Niro are some of the biggest actors in history. And if you add Martin Scorsese to the picture, you have an award-winning box office thriller.
Except that’s not what happened. $70 million later, Martin Scorsese created a 15 minute short film featuring one of the biggest ensemble casts in recent history.
The Audition is a corporate sponsored short film that was made to promote a new $3.2 billion Hollywood themed casino resort in Macau.
The resort, which is called Studio City, is the offspring of Melco Crown Entertainment and had it’s opening earlier this week.
Luckily for fans of the Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Robert De Niro, someone managed to capture the film on their smartphone and posted it on for everyone to see.
The Audition shows some an inside look into the casino, featuring some of the golden decoration and the luxurious lifestyle behind Studio City.
The basic plot is based on Martin Scorsese inviting Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro to the casino to make them fight for the leading role in an upcoming movie.
Here’s a quote from Brett Ratner, a producer on the project:
This short film is a historic event because it is the first film ever to star such legendary actors as Robert De Niro, Leonardo Dicaprio and Brad Pitt in one film together. Mr. Lawrence Ho and Mr. James Packer served as Executive Producers and convinced iconic filmmaker Martin Scorsese to direct the film whom I was thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with. The cooperation between Mr. Scorsese and the Melco Crown Entertainment brand is synergistic because of the fact that Mr. Scorsese directed the film “Casino” starring Robert DeNiro. Mr. Scorsese has collaborated with Mr. DeNiro on 8 films and with Mr. DiCaprio on 5 films and is working with Mr. Pitt for the first time. Our hope is that the trailer for “The Audition” gives audiences an early look into what will surely be an important cinematic experience directed by one of the most culturally influential directors in the history of Hollywood films. I look forward to the Global Premiere of the film at the launch of Studio City in mid-2015.
According to Splashfilm, each actor was rumored to have been paid over $10 million for their performances.
