Tom Cruise Breaks His Silence Regarding the Speculations of Him Joining Marvel Studios as Iron Man.
As Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was officially released, fans were disheartened to discover that rumors of Tom Cruise taking up an alternate-universe version of Iron Man had been debunked. Thus, their dreams for a grand entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe perished too. Despite Marvel Studios' progress into Phase 5 of the MCU, rumors that Tom Cruise will play Iron Man have yet to die down.
Quashing the speculation and gossip, Tom Cruise recently confronted his followers head-on in an interview. The actor was questioned about almost being chosen to play Iron Man rather than Robert Downey Jr. and whether he would be interested in taking on the role of a superhero. “Not close. Not close. I love Robert Downey Jr. I can't imagine anyone else playing this role and I think it's perfect for him, Cruise exclaimed.
Furthermore, “I look at a movie and think, you know, I don't rule anything out, it's what's the story? What's the character? Does it interest me? Do I feel this is what an audience would like to see me in? What can I learn? What can I contribute? That's really how I look at things.”
