According to recent reports, Michael Bay will not be directing the next Transformers movie.
It looks like Michael Bay has finally gotten bored of the Transformers series. In an interview with USA Today he revealed that he will be passing off the chance to direct to Transformers 5 to someone off.
Bay, 49, believes he will pass the baton for future Transformer movies to a new director while he turns his focus elsewhere. “There’s kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make,” says Bay, who is eyeing a passion project, a documentary on elephant poaching. “I have a lot of stories to tell. And it’s about flexing new muscles.” [USA Today ]
Michael Bay’s films include Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and the Transformers film series (2007–present), have grossed over US$5 billion worldwide. Currently, Michael Bay is on a hot streak right now. Transformers 4 made a billion dollars worldwide and his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie also did extremely well in the box office.
But, what this will mean for the future of Hollywood? Well only Michael Bay knows. But, hopefully it is not another 3 hour toy commercial.
