Watch the security camera footage of “El Chapo” disappearing from his prison cell.
If you were wondering what it looked like when the Mexican drug king-pin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán escaped from a maximum-security prison on Saturday night, then we have good news. There was a security camera filming him in his cell the entire time, and the footage was released yesterday by Mexican authorities, along with a detailed look at the tunnel he escaped in.
The video was released last night during a press conference held by Mexico’s National Security Commissioner Monte Alejandro Rubido. In the clip, you can see Guzmán pacing in his cell, from the bed to the shower and back. At one point, he disappears from view behind the shower stall before emerging again. El Chapo walks back to his bed, appears to put on shoes, then returns to the shower and drops through what we now understand was a two by two foot hole in the ground, and gone for good.
The video also contains footage of Guzmán’s cell and the tunnel that led him away from the prison, taken by authorities after his escape.
Prior to his escape, Ivan Guzman, one of El Chapo’s sons, apparently hinted about the escape on Twitter days before it took place.
Since, his escape leaked photos show the drug king-pin enjoying a beer, flying a plane, and warning Donald Trump.
