LAPD is stepping up security for the premiere of N.W.A Biopic ‘Straight Outta Compton’.
According to reports, metal detectors and members of the Gang Enforcement division of the LAPD will be deployed for the red-carpet screening of the movie.
According to TheWrap, there will be an increased police presence at several ‘Straight Outta Compton’ events.
The stepped-up police presence included special events officers from the LAPD’s Central Bureau, as well as members of the department’s Gang Enforcement Detail, Officer Mike Lopez told TheWrap.
“We will have plenty of resources and officers there in case of any emergency,” Lopez said. “We wish that everybody enjoys the premiere and has a safe evening.”
With the rise in movie theater shootings many theaters have commented that they will be increasing the number of security officers and police during the release of ‘Straight Outta Compton’.
‘Straight Outta Compton’ is a biopic on the highly controversial rap group, N.W.A. After several open casting calls and years in development, N.W.A. hits theaters this weekend.
