Charlie Sheen reveals he is HIV Positive.
Charlie Sheen is one of Hollywood’s best-known actors.
Sheen starred hit movies such as Wall Street and the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men.
Sheen was fired from “Two and a Half Men” in 2011 after a public meltdown that had the actor bashing the show’s creator.
Sheen then entered drug rehab twice and lived with three different women at one time. He was one of the highest paid actors on TV earning $1.25 million per episode in 2015.
But, after an interview with CBS Today, the actor revealed he is HIV-Positive.
Reportedly, Charlie Sheen has been dealing with HIV for the past 10 years.
According to the NYPost, celebrity crisis manager Wendy Feldman, who has previously worked with people close to Charlie Sheen, says the actor has been fighting HIV for 10 years.
From NYPost:
“He’s had this for a long time,” she told Page Six on Monday. “He’s worked to calibrate his meds and we saw him go off the rails a few years ago. That’s his pattern for the past 10 years.”
While Feldman has never worked with Sheen, she added that she’s “shocked” the often-unpredictable 50-year-old’s interview with Matt Lauer will be broadcast live. She is unsure how Sheen contracted the disease and if he’ll reveal he’s bisexual or that he’s used intravenous drugs.
“I think the reason to come out is that there’s been a dramatic change in his health,” she added. “The latest lawsuit threat somehow spooked him.”
TMZ reported on Monday that some of Charlie Sheen’s former partners threated the actor with lawsuits because they did not know he had HIV when they slept with the actor. TMZ also claims Charlie Sheen settled several of the cases in which he paid millions for confidentiality agreements. “[Non disclosure agreements] must have gone wrong as he is known for tight ones,” she explained.
Charlie Sheen says he was diagnosed 4 years ago.
The actor told NBC’s Today Show on Tuesday that he was diagnosed about four years ago and that a few people who knew it demanded money from him to keep quiet.
“I’m here to admit that I am in fact HIV-positive,” Sheen told NBC’s Matt Lauer. “And I have to put a stop to this onslaught, this barrage of attacks and of sub-truths and very harmful and mercurial stories that are about the (alleged) threatening the health of so many others, which couldn’t be farther from the truth.”
“It’s a hard three letters to absorb,” he said. “It’s a turning point in one’s life.”
Charlie Sheen found out after getting a ton of migraines.
Sheen says he learned he was diagnosed with HIV after he suffered several migraines. “After a battery of tests … they walked in the room and said, ‘Boom, here’s what’s going on,’ ” Sheen said.
Charlie Sheen says his friends extorted him.
Charlie Sheen revealed the diagnosis to people he thought he trusted, but some of them demanded money from him to keep quiet. He paid those people “in the millions.”
“We’re talking about shakedowns,” he said. “I’ve paid those people — not that many.”
One of those people, he pointed out was a prostitute who entered his bathroom, took a photo of his medication and threatened to sell the photos to the tabloids.
