Tom Cruise is currently in talks to star in the upcoming The Mummy reboot.
According to The Guardian, Tom Cruise will reportedly join the cast of The Mummy, which is set to be released in 2017.
Previously, Universal Pictures hired Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan to create and develop a universe out of the studio’s long list of movie monsters. The Mummy is expected to be the first of several movies that will reboot the monster franchise, according to Variety.
Characters from other monster movies are expected to return in each sequel, and the series will ultimately come together in a final movie, similar to the Marvel cinematic universe.
Kurtzman is expected to direct the reboot and Jon Spaihts is writing the movie script. According to IMDB, the movie is set in present day, unlike the previous Mummy movies featuring BRendan Fraser, and follows navy Seal Tyler Colt on his mission in the Iraqi desert in search of terrorists.
Tom Cruise is currently in New Orleans filming Jack Reacher 2: Never Go Back and casting directors are constantly looking for extras to appear in the movie. For the latest casting calls click here.
