Producer behind the upcoming Men in Black reboot says the new movie will feature a “woman in black”.
The Men in Black reboot is in full swing and this time it will probably not feature Will Smith. So what are movie studios and producers planning to do with the movie franchise? Well, according to producer Laurie MacDonald, they plan to feature a “woman in black.”
The latest film in the sci-fi franchise, which has made over $1.5 billion worldwide, is still in development and pre-production, but MacDonald promises the world that there will be a more diverse cast in comparison to the last movies.
“There will be a prominent woman in black in the fourth [film],” she told BBC’s Newsbeat.
Will Smith is still unconfirmed for the new MIB reboot but, MacDonald’s producer husband Walter Parkes said: “Never count Will out.”
“We are quite early on in it,” he said. “We looked at the first three in retrospect as a bit of a trilogy. We tried to tell a story about those two characters and that relationship. It sounds silly because it’s a fun, science fiction comedy but when you work on these things, you try to find some thematic basis underneath it.”
Men in Black started their franchise in 1997, taking Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones and putting them into a universe of aliens and top flight government security.
“Now we are looking at a reinvention,” Parkes said. “It’s a wonderful world to get back into.”
Rumors also suggested that the next Men in Black movie was going to be a crossover between 21 Jump Street.
