Star Wars casting directors are now casting the role of Young Lando Calrissian for the upcoming Han Solo movie.
When it was announced that Disney executives were looking for the next actor to play the iconic Han Solo movie role, everyone went crazy. It was later revealed that hundreds of actors auditioned for the lead role but, it eventually came down to an actor Steven Spielberg met at a Bat Mitzvah. Now, according to The Wrap, Star Wars studio executives are now casting a young Lando Calrissian for the upcoming Han Solo movie.
The Wrap reports that, casting directors are casting the lead role under the code name of “Chance” and are looking for a young actor to play the role made famous by Billy Dee Williams.
Lando Calrissian first appeared in the Star Wars franchise in The Empire Strikes Back. In the Star Wars movie, Darth Vader forces him to betray Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca and C-3PO when they arrive at Cloud City. Lando famously lost the Millennium Falcon to Han Solo in a game called sabacc.
However, what is not explained the Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back is the long history Calrissian and Solo have and it is expected the upcoming Han Solo prequel will reveal the details in the upcoming standalone movie.
According to Birth.Movies.Death, Donald Glover is reportedly Lucasfilm‘s first choice to play Young Lando Calrissian. However, there are no details on if Lucasfilm has offered him the role, or even if the actor has met with the studio yet. If this news is true though, it will be a big career boost for Glover whose acting career has been on a role since he left the now canceled series Community. In fact, Glover just finished working on Marvel‘s Spider-Man: Homecoming and the new FX series Atlanta.
