Are you looking for a new job in the film industry?
Are you interested in appearing in your own TV show or working behind the scenes? If so, then we have great news for you! The CFO behind Netflix is targeting to create 50% of their content available on their streaming service will be original programming.
“We’ve been on a multiyear transition and evolution toward more of our own content,” said Wells, speaking at Goldman Sachs’ Communacopia conference Tuesday.
Currently, Netflix is “one-third to halfway” toward reaching the 50% originals target, he said. In addition, he acknowledged that not every show has to be a hit. He explained, “We don’t necessarily have to have home runs… We can also live with singles, doubles and triples especially commensurate with their cost.”
This probably comes down to the fact that Netflix is not spending a lot of money to create new and original content. For example, Stranger Things was a break out hit TV series for Netflix and had everyone talking about the cult-classic mystery series. However, by filming in Atlanta, Georgia and casting relatively unknown actors, Netflix was able to decrease their film production costs.
That being said, Netflix’s goal is release something appeals to each and every subscriber, every month and that is not always easy. “we’ve got a ways to go” across different genres and formats.
This is great news for any aspiring actor in the film industry. Netflix is constantly expanding new and original content, which means new job opportunities.
