What’s Remain About?

Full plot details are still under wraps, but here’s what we know so far:

  1. Genre: Supernatural Romantic Thriller
  2. Director: M. Night Shyamalan
  3. Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal and reportedly Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton)
  4. Story by: M. Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks

As you can read, this is a fascinating collaboration between Shyamalan’s eerie, suspense-driven storytelling with Sparks’ emotional, character-driven romance. The viewers should expect something creepy, heartfelt, and totally unique.

Here’s how to apply for ‘Remain

First, check more details about this casting job opportunity here.

Why This Could Be a Big Deal for You

Even as an extra, working on a film like Remain can give you:

  1. On-set experience with an A-list cast and award-winning director
  2. Networking opportunities with casting agents, crew, and production team
  3. Screen time (you never know what scene might make the final cut!)
  4. A resume boost that looks great when applying to other roles

And hey, if you’re serious about acting, the fact that you are present on a professional set is like a free masterclass with people from the industry.

Increase Your Chances of Getting Cast

Let’s be honest, you’re probably not the only one applying, but let me help you stand out:

Use Professional Photos: Please avoid bathroom selfies; you must send clear, high-quality photos that show your look and vibe.

✅ Be Local or Flexible: Casting directors prefer people who can be on set without a ton of logistical issues. So, if you’re from the area or have housing in Rhode Island, you have some green lights on that.

✅ Have a Resume Ready: Even if it’s short, a clean resume that lists any theater, film, or commercial experience is more than great. Don’t forget to include any special skills or certifications, too.

✅ Follow Directions: Directors are looking for people who can follow, so the first test is to follow the submission instructions.

A Word to the Wise

This is an M. Night Shyamalan film we’re talking about. That means surprises, plot twists, and a lot of creative processes. While most of the roles are already cast, the background extras still play a huge part in creating the world of the movie.

So, if you’re passionate about acting, even if you’re getting started, this is a solid opportunity to get your feet wet in the industry.

Don’t Think About It Too Much

Getting cast in Remain might not skyrocket you to stardom overnight, but it’s one of those “right place, right time” chances that could lead to something bigger. At the very least, you’ll walk away with some on-set experience, a cool credit on your resume, and a story to tell.

So go ahead, polish up those headshots, send that email, and take the shot. Because the only way to land a role is to show up and go for it.  Break a leg!!!

  1. As someone who’s been considering taking the leap into background work, this was a super encouraging read. It’s also interesting to see Phoebe Dynevor possibly joining Gyllenhaal—great casting choice if true!
