‘Derry Girls’ Creator Begins Filming New Netflix Comedy in Northern Ireland.
Lisa McGee, the creative mind behind ‘Derry Girls,’ has kicked off production for her new Netflix comedy series, ‘How To Get To Heaven From Belfast,’ in Northern Ireland.
Reuniting with McGee for this eight-part comedy-thriller are ‘Derry Girls’ director Michael Lennox and producer Brian J. Falconer from Hat Trick Productions. The series stars Roísín Gallagher, Sinéad Keenan, and Caoilfhionn Dunne, who play three women in their late 30s. The trio’s lives are turned upside down after discovering the death of the fourth, estranged member of their childhood friendship group. This revelation sets them on an emotional and unpredictable journey across Northern Ireland, where they unearth secrets about themselves and their past.
Originally slated for Channel 4, the series transitioned to Netflix in March. Channel 4 cited “changes in editorial direction” and “rising costs” as reasons for the move.
