Job Description: Join the cast of “Rutka: A New Musical,” a powerful indie-rock musical set to make its world premiere in Cincinnati. The story unfolds in the heart of a Jewish Ghetto in 1943 war-torn Poland, capturing the poignant experiences of Rutka and her friends as they navigate through the complexities of adolescence amid the horrors of war. This narrative is inspired by the real-life diary of Rutka Laskier, a 14-year-old girl whose writings reveal a vibrant spirit caught in tragic times.
Responsibilities:
- Perform multiple live shows per week, adhering to the director’s vision and the musical’s standards.
- Participate in rehearsals as scheduled, which will include singing, acting, and choreography.
- Engage in promotional activities, including media appearances and public relations events as required.
- Collaborate with the cast and crew to ensure a seamless execution of the production.
- Maintain a high level of performance quality and personal conduct.
Role Specifics – Seeking for the role of NINA:
- Female, playing age 14 (actors 18+ only).
- Character Traits: Quiet, steady, good listener, somewhat shy, a gentle daydreamer, trustworthy.
- Vocal Requirements: Strong singing ability with the capability to mix/belt up to C/D.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in theater, musical theater, or related performance arts (professional or educational).
- Strong vocal abilities with a preference for folk/indie rock sensibilities.
- Ability to convey complex emotions through both acting and song.
- Open to all ethnicities; commitment to diverse and inclusive casting.
- Must be available for the entire duration of rehearsals and show run.
- Willingness to relocate to Cincinnati for the production period (if not locally based).
Compensation:
- Competitive weekly salary starting at $1,100, in line with LORT standards.
