SCAD seeks an experienced film and video director for its location in historic Savannah, Georgia.
In this full-time position, your primary responsibility will be to develop film and video projects that communicate SCAD’s brand, goals, and stories based on the overall strategies of the visual media department. You will direct and produce short, targeted films for various SCAD initiatives, including documentary, television, advertising, and special-project use. Among other duties, you will also ideate, pitch story ideas, develop creative and technical filming approaches, and produce approved concepts into finished films.
The successful candidate is confident, creative, and can use stellar interpersonal communication skills to motivate others. The candidate should have a strong grasp of streaming protocols, file formats, codecs, and encoding, as well as an understanding of basic streaming concepts (e.g., differences between streaming, downloading, progressive downloading, on-demand files, live broadcasting, etc.). Organizational and time-management skills are essential as this position involves managing multiple project deadlines simultaneously. The candidate should also respond positively to feedback and be willing to make necessary changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
- Two to five years of experience in film, television, information technology, multimedia, or broadcasting
- Experience managing budgets and with the direction and creation of elevated imagery to convey a concept or story
