“The Fixer” starring James Franco is now seeking to cast a lead role in the feature film.
Filmmakers are holding an open auditions for actors in the San Francisco Bay Area. Producers are currently seeking to find an actor to portray a 28 year old Afghan journalist.
The upcoming independent film is looking for the next break out star from Afghanistan.
“The Fixer” stars James Franco and will be directed by Ian Olds. The movie was inspired on people called “fixers” who are hired by international journalists when they are in other countries when they need help abroad. Ian Olds previously worked on the documentary titled “Fixer: The Taking of Ajmal Naqshbandi” which won an award at the Tribeca Film Festival.
“The Fixer” centers on the story of a ex-war journalist, who after being exiled from Afghanistan finds himself in the United States. he takes a small job for a newspaper but becomes entagled in a much larger story and gets pulled into conflicting situations.
According to Imdb, James Franco will co-star as the lead role of Lindsay and Melissa Leo is also reported to join the cast of the project as well.
An open casting call will be held at 39155 Liberty St in Fremont, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Casting directors are trying to make this film as authentic as possible, so producers have decided to cast an Afghan in the lead role and allowing anyone the opportunity to audition for the project.
Producers expect to start production in July in Northern California, where 90% of the script takes place. “The Fixer” may also shoot in Morocco, which would stand in for Afghanistan.
